My Latest Trip To Reno Truckee Tahoe

My latest trip I traveled to Reno, Truckee, and Tahoe. It was a whirl wind week of visiting with friends, family, business and the TEDxUniversityofNevada event. We weren’t able to see everyone on the list but we sure did pack it in! The trip was filled with good food, good company, and a sunrise of our favorite lake (Lake Tahoe)!

I really enjoyed staying at our friend Lana Sue’s in Truckee. She really knows how to make you feel right at home. Not only were we greeted with big hugs she had a welcome sign on the guest room that made us feel special.

Friends

You never realize how many friends you have until you move away. Going back to visit made me realize that the list of friends is long and I am so thankful for each of them. We made every attempt to see as many of our friends as possible throughout the week and I hope the next time I visit I get to see some of the folks we didn’t get to visit with.

Family

I had the opportunity to head to Sacramento for a day and visit with my daughter and granddaughter. Fun was had by all! It was wonderful spending time with them. I enjoyed every minute playing, talking, and getting to hold my little peanut. I think my favorite part was when we took selfies together!

Some Favorites Stops

We made sure to stop off at our favorite spots in Reno & Truckee:

Peg’s Glorified Ham & Eggs

Peg’s was our very first stop after we arrived in Reno. We were starving and Peg’s was just what the doctor ordered! We lucked out and were seated pretty quickly at the counter. We ordered a plate of biscuits and gravy to share as an appetizer, delicious! Then we ordered our favorite dish huevos rancheros. The portions are big enough to share and the food is fantastic! Thank you to the staff for taking such good care of us.

Cabela’s

We needed to pick up a pair of sunglasses for Eric before we headed to Truckee. Cabela’s is a sporting goods store in Reno. It is not just any regular store it is quite an experience. So if you ever have the opportunity to check one out please do your won’t regret it!

Marty’s Cafe

Marty’s is one of the best places to get breakfast in Truckee! My favorite dish there is the “EGG BEATERS SCRAMBLED WITH SPINACH & MUSHROOMS, GRILLED TOMATOES”. Mmm… it is delicious! One of Eric’s favorite dishes is the breakfast burrito. Make sure to bring an appetite the portions are large and if you don’t share you will have left overs.

Walden’s Coffee House

Walden‘s is a wonderful place to get breakfast or lunch and get some work done. They have lot’s of great food to choose from. I like the scrambles they are packed with all kinds of veggies! One of the MUST tries at Walden’s is in the pastry counter. The sticky buns are to die for! I would categorize them as #foodporn in a social media post. Their staff is friendly and there is always interesting artwork on the walls.

Full Belly Deli

Full Belly Deli is in Truckee and you will not leave hungry! Breakfast and lunch is their forte and it’s all good. They have tasty soups, interesting sandos, and a variety of breakfast choices to choose from. I am fond of the breakfast burrito, the beef stew, and the veggie sando.

Lux Hair

I have not found a hair salon yet in Portland and lucky for me I have been back to Truckee 4 times in the past 6 months which means I have been able to squeeze in a hair appointment while I have been in town at Lux. Megan is my hair dresser and she is fantastic! I just love that she can spruce up my hair and get me back on track.

The Lake

When you live in the Sierras “The Lake” is the term you use when you are talking about Lake Tahoe. Lake Tahoe is my favorite place and I try to take in the view every time I visit.

This trip Lana Sue suggested we get up and drive over to see the sunrise. We threw our clothes on and headed over to Tahoe City. When we arrived the sun was coming up over the mountain tops, the clouds were dramatic, and the wind was blowing. It was a fantastic way to start off the day!

After we had had enough of the cold we hopped in the car to drive around the lake and get breakfast at “The Old Post Office“. Filled our bellies with comfort food and enjoyed the lake for a little longer.

TEDxUniversityofNevada

Saturday came pretty quickly and it was time for TEDxUniversityofNevada! We enjoyed a day of inspirational talks, fantastic performances, and ideas worth spreading. Stay tuned for a blog post just on this event.

My latest trip ends with the TEDxUniversityofNevada event. We headed home the very next day. The week was packed full of friends, family, business, and the grand finally of attending the TEDxUniversityofNevada event. Until next time.
