On January 23, 2016 one of my ALL time favorite events is happening and I can’t wait! TEDxUniversityofNevada is one of the most inspirational events I have had the pleasure to attend the past 2 years. I know that TEDxUniversityofNevada 2016 is going to be amazing!
What Is A TEDx
TEDx is an event that is held by communities all over the world to spark conversations and connections locally in their community through presenters sharing or performing their ideas and experiences through the TED spirit of ideas worth spreading.
At a TEDx event you will experience inspiration, knowledge, awareness, and a sense of empowerment through the ideas of others. It is well worth your time and the cost of admission to attend a TEDx.
TEDxUniversityofNevada
Why is TEDxUniversityofNevada one of my all time favorite events? TEDxUniversityofNevada is near and dear to my heart because it was my first TEDx I volunteered for, attended, and I am responsible for the redesign and maintenance of the website.
TEDxUniversityofNevada is filled with heart, knowledge, and ideas worth spreading from the organizers all the way to the presenters. It is an event that will speak to your heart, soul, and mind.
Why Would You Want To Go
You may be wondering why would you want to go to a TEDx event in Reno Nevada. The TEDxUniversityofNevada event is a top notch event with speakers from the local area and from all over the nation. The speakers come from various backgrounds and experiences that they are willing to share with you. They will make you laugh and cry. You will leave a better person than you were when you arrived prior to the event because ideas are worth spreading.
Favorite Speakers
It is REALLY hard for me to just name a few of my favorite speakers from TEDxUniversityofNevada because I know I came away from each presentation with more knowledge and inspiration and that has made me a better person. So I will highlight a few of the presentations here but highly recommend you go watch the videos for yourself.
2014
Bridget Park is an amazing teenager and she was very impressive throughout her presentation. At such a young age she has clearly more awareness and understanding because of her family tragedy. She is a brave young woman with very good advice and a point of view of how to treat someone who has lost a loved one.
Elizabeth Smart is a name most people remember and it was an honor to sit in the audience and listen to her story. She is a brave woman who went through a terrible experience when she was abducted and she is an amazing speaker to see in person.
Dr. Leana Wen takes you through her own family experience of health care in China and compares the United States current state in health care. Her experiences and knowledge as doctor are eye opening.
2015
Owen Roberts presentation was definitely one that spoke to me! It was ironic that he was talking about taking chances and to pursue adventure in life (ie choosing door #2) because that very day we put our house on the market to sell and move. Owen’s wise words spoke to me and reminded me that life is ever changing and that you have the choice to pursue a life you want to live that maybe not everyone is comfortable with or understands.
Nicole Hockley’s story will bring you to tears. The subject of the Sandy Hook tragedy and her mission to talk about preventing gun violence is heart wrenching. I was brought to tears and felt so honored that she shared her story with us.
Michael J. Russer was amazing! He shared his own experience of impotence and how he discovered real intimacy. He is a fantastic presenter and has wonderful advice for reconnecting.

I have shared what TEDx is and why I love TEDxUniversityofNevada. This year’s event is at the Pioneer Center in Reno, Nevada. There are still tickets available and I hope you join me in attending next month’s event. I promise it is an experience of a lifetime!
