What is a WordCamp & Why Would You Go?

What is a WordCamp?

It is a conference that is all about WordPress! Meaning that the 1 or 2 day event will bring people together to talk about WordPress from beginner to developer levels. They usually have a theme and the speaker’s presentations at WordCamp will incorporate the theme of the event. It’s the most inexpensive conference I have ever attended and well worth the time! The tickets usually cost around $20 and this includes:

  • admission
  • presentations
  • networking opportunities
  • t-shirt
  • schwag
  • lunch

Why Would You Go?

At WordCamp you get to meet other WordPress users, developers, and contributors of WordPress! This is a great way to get to know the community, learn more about WordPress, and find out how you can get involved!

What Happens At a WordCamp?

When you attend a WordCamp you get to choose all through out the day which presentations to attend and when you are not attending a session there is plenty of opportunity to get help at the genius bar (a place staffed with knowledgeable WordPress experts that you can ask specific WordPress questions you need help with), check out companies that have booths & schwag ( i.e. Sucuri, WPEngine, Bluehost just to name a few), and hang out to meet other fellow WordCampers!

WordCamp has a lot to offer anyone who is interested in WordPress and there are plenty of opportunities to attend a WordCamp near you! WordCamp’s happen all through out the year world wide! The best place to find out when and where a WordCamp is scheduled for is at WordCamp Central’s website!

WordCamp US

A very exciting WordCamp is next month! WordCamp US is December 4th – 6th and the host city is Philadelphia, Pennsylvania! Tickets are still available if you want to attend either in person or streaming. Buy your tickets today before they run out!

The Wrap Up

In conclusion if you are using WordPress WordCamps are a great way to learn, get help, meet the community, get a WordCamp t-shirt, and find out how to participate in this wonderful community!
